This is a full-time opportunity for a finance professional who enjoys working with financial data, supporting decision-making, improving reporting processes, and partnering with operational stakeholders. The successful candidate will play an important role in budgeting, forecasting, reporting, variance analysis, and the ongoing improvement of financial processes.
The successful candidate will be employed directly by our client.
The Opportunity
As a Senior Financial Analyst, you will support the organization’s financial planning, analysis, reporting, and month-end processes. You will work with finance and operational leaders to deliver timely, accurate, and meaningful financial information that supports sound business decisions.
The ideal candidate is highly analytical, comfortable working with large volumes of data, and able to translate financial results into clear insights and practical recommendations. You will be expected to manage competing priorities, meet recurring deadlines, and identify opportunities to improve reporting, processes, and data quality.
What You’ll Do
• Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting process.
• Prepare and analyze financial results, including revenue, expenses, margins, operational metrics, and key performance indicators.
• Perform monthly variance analysis against budget, forecast, prior-year results, and other relevant benchmarks.
• Prepare clear and meaningful financial commentary that explains key business drivers, risks, trends, and variances.
• Assist with the annual budgeting process and periodic forecasting updates.
• Partner with operational leaders and budget owners to gather information, validate assumptions, and support financial planning activities.
• Develop and maintain financial models, reporting schedules, and analytical tools to support decision-making.
• Prepare management reports, dashboards, presentations, and ad hoc analysis for leadership and internal stakeholders.
• Support month-end activities, including journal-entry support, account reconciliations, accrual analysis, and review of financial results.
• Help ensure the completeness, accuracy, and consistency of financial and operational data used for reporting and analysis.
• Identify opportunities to streamline reporting, enhance data quality, improve controls, and automate recurring finance processes.
• Assist with audit requests, working papers, and other finance-related documentation as required.
• Support ad hoc financial analysis, special projects, and business initiatives as they arise.
What We’re Looking For
• A post-secondary degree or diploma in accounting, finance, business, economics, or a related discipline.
• CPA designation, or progress toward a CPA designation, is considered an asset.
• Several years of progressive experience in financial analysis, FP&A, corporate accounting, financial reporting, or a related finance role.
• Strong experience with budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling, variance analysis, and management reporting.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to work confidently with large data sets, formulas, pivots, lookups, and financial models.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
• The ability to interpret complex financial information and communicate insights clearly to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and commitment to accuracy.
• The ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience using NetSuite is considered an asset.
• Experience with dashboarding, reporting, business-intelligence, or data-visualization tools—such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms—is considered an asset.
• Experience improving financial reports, reporting processes, data flows, or finance-system workflows is considered an asset.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• A collaborative, professional, and proactive approach to work.
Why Consider This Opportunity?
• Join a stable, medium-sized organization with the opportunity to make a meaningful impact within the finance function.
• Work closely with cross-functional stakeholders and contribute to business planning and decision-making.
